The importance of a healthy diet and eating “clean food” has been reiterated dozens of times in previous articles, both to keep the load on the body’s immune system as low as possible and to maintain a healthy nutritional status. Because the gut is the lining of the small intestine and is a living and vital organ, it is particularly vulnerable and susceptible to becoming impacted by mold, mycotoxins, environmental chemicals, and chronic infections. Hydrochloric acid, produced in the lining of the stomach, can be affected by these toxic influences and this can further complicate and exacerbate gastrointestinal and other symptoms throughout the body.
